First Day of the New Year

It was a busy day from the get-go this morning. I thought I'd have time to relax, reflect and write on the past year, but the day took off on me.

I had to head outside right after breakfast to shovel some snow and move the vehicles out of the way before Charles showed up with the snow blower. He was coming to clean the back yard and to cut the snow banks down in the front yard so it wouldn't be so high to shovel the next time we get snow.

Once I finished dealing with the snow, I hauled in a supply of wood for the fireplace, then had brunch and visited together with Charles family. When they left I suited up again and headed out for my daily walk. By the time I got back I had just enough time to take a shower and to make a couple of quick calls to family before heading out to Andree's sister's place for supper.

We had a good time but it was nice to come back to the peace and quiet of our own home at the end of the evening and to finally get a chance to jot down a few words in my journal. I was writing about how 2016 seems to have come and gone faster than I could shake a stick at. Is it just me or do other people feel that way too?

I never make New Years resolutions but I like to take the time to write what I intend to focus on for the upcoming year.

My five intentions for 2017:

~ to be present to the moment
~ to live without hesitation
~ to be grateful and awake
~ to be true to what I feel
~ to love deeply

Already the first day of 2017 has disappeared.
